Installation Requirements & Product Limitations

Last updated: 6/07/2026

The following installation requirements apply to the current Penenator Custom Orb range — the Small, Medium, Large and Roof Vent models — which share the same corrugated profile and installation method. Future models built for other roofing profiles (e.g. trim deck) may have different requirements; always refer to the installation instructions and specifications for the specific model being installed.

Roof pitch (Custom Orb range)

The Penenator Custom Orb range is recommended for installation on roof pitches of 14 degrees or greater. It can be installed on Custom Orb roofs down to 5 degrees; however, on pitches below 14 degrees the reduced roof fall means water pooling or ponding can occur. On these lower-pitch installations, correct undersealing — particularly at any roof sheet laps or joins — is an essential step to prevent water ingress, and is the responsibility of the installer. Where the Custom Orb range is installed across a roof sheet lap or sheet join, the sheet overlap must be appropriately undersealed to prevent water ingress. Penenator Pty Ltd accepts no responsibility or liability for leaks, water ingress, ponding, property damage, consequential loss, or any associated costs arising from installations that have not been correctly installed and undersealed in accordance with the Installation Guide, including lower-pitch installations that have not been adequately undersealed.

Installation requirements

The Penenator must be installed in accordance with the current Penenator Installation Guide and accepted Australian roofing industry practices. Installation should only be carried out by a suitably qualified, competent, or experienced roofing contractor or installer familiar with metal roofing systems. Failure to install the product in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions may void any applicable warranty.

Compatibility

The installer is responsible for ensuring the selected Penenator model is suitable for the specific roof profile, roof pitch, penetration size, roofing material, and intended application. The installer must confirm that all associated products — including rubber pipe boots, fasteners, sealants, fixings, and accessories — are compatible with the roofing material and intended application.

Sealants

Only high-quality roofing sealants suitable for external use and compatible with the roofing material should be used. The installer is responsible for ensuring all sealants are correctly applied and maintained where required.

Inspection & maintenance

Once installed, ongoing inspection and maintenance is the responsibility of the building or home owner — the installer is not expected to return to re-check the installation. The penetration, sealants, fixings, and surrounding roofing should be inspected periodically to ensure the system remains watertight. Regular inspection is particularly important following severe weather events, building movement, or roof maintenance works.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Penenator Pty Ltd shall not be liable for any loss, damage, defect, leak, water ingress, or consequential loss resulting from: installation contrary to the Penenator Installation Guide; pooling or water ingress on roof pitches below 14 degrees where the installation has not been correctly undersealed; incorrect installation or workmanship; failure to adequately seal the installation; failure to underseal roof sheet joins where applicable; use of incompatible roofing materials, sealants, fasteners, or accessories; incorrect selection of the Penenator model for the roof profile or application; structural movement, roof design, or building defects; modifications made to the product after manufacture; or normal weathering, ageing, lack of maintenance, or damage caused by extreme weather events beyond the product's design parameters. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation.
